Client Notes
Short accounts from holders who booked UTXO consolidation planning and cold-wallet reviews.
They listed every change output from my 2023 receives and showed which three could wait until the next fee dip. I still signed myself; I just stopped guessing which coins to pick.
The audit was blunt: half my tiny outputs would cost more than their face value at that week’s fees. I postponed the sweep and booked planning later when mempools cooled. The wait felt wiser than the first quote.
After consolidating last autumn, the maintenance review caught a cluster of Lightning closes I had forgotten. We left the large coin alone and only swept the new dust.
I wanted them to broadcast for me; they refused, which annoyed me for a day and then made sense. The PDF order was enough once I sat with the hardware wallet on a quiet Saturday.
Extended note: a crowded receive habit
A client who had reused a single receive address for freelance invoices arrived with more than sixty small UTXOs. The planning session grouped them into two consolidation transactions instead of one, preserving a larger untouched coin for a known upcoming payment. Execution happened two weeks later during a quieter fee window; the client reported the second transaction felt calmer because the plan already named which outputs to leave behind.
